Brown Bag Campaign Donations!

withoutlove:

Here is a pretty long post… thats ok, it had to be long, because it is packed full of donations for the Brown Bag Campaign!

66 Bags in all just in this post!

withoutlove project: Day 23.12

27 Items/2 Bags

I enjoyed it so much I donated again!

Again, this was a great idea.

EDIT: 27 items

withoutlove project: Day 23.11

32 Items/2 Bags

32 total items. I enjoyed doing this.

withoutlove project: Day 23.10

11 Items/1 Bag

I think it’s 11 in total.  Not too much, but I got nailed by work this week and couldn’t make it to the store.  Ah well, I’ll probably do it again soon anyway.  Those people rock.

withoutlove project: Day 23.9

11 Items/2 Bags

I dropped some stuff yesterday. I don’t have a car, so I just dropped it off at my college’s outreach center. They’ll take it over to a local food bank.
I got 11 items, some boxed mac and cheese, some refried beans, some diced bamboo shoots, and some organic dried mulberries.

withoutlove project: Day 23.8

3 Bags/28 Items

withoutlove project: Day 23.7

46 Items/5 Bags

so i donated a total of 46 items to my local food bank. i got most of it from emptying out my cabinets and asking some friends and family to help the cause.

brought to my local food bank.. got a nice warm fuzzy feeling

awesome guys! hope to see more stuff like this in the future xD
and happy valentines day!!! <3 <3 <3

withoutlove project: Day 23.6

40 Items/4 Bags

Purchased a fair amount of items (40) yesterday morning.. What was I going to do with them? Let’em go bad…. So I donated them to help my community. Here is my documentation.

withoutlove project: Day 23.5

22 Items/2 Bags

I donated 23 Items to a local homeless night shelter. it was interesting to be given a tour and the lady was really helpful (she insisted that i take a calender below). i felt pretty weird taking photos in there so i only took one in the store room. overall it was a good thing to do and nice to find out more about this local charity. Cheers.

withoutlove project: Day 23.4

23 Items/3 Bags

I bought 23 items at the supermarket yesterday… here they are arranged on my coffee table, after arriving home…

And finally… This is a pic of the bags on the kitchen counter at PROJECT ACT… an outreach/community center  exclusively for Senior Citizens (aged 60 and over), in midtown NYC. For the record… I’ve never done anything like this before, enjoyed it, and would totally do it again… thanks for providing the motivation!

withoutlove project: Day 23.3

17 Items/1 Box

My 17 cans of food:

Community Economic Development Alliance:

When I called on the phone to ask for directions, before I could ask, the woman said “I’m sorry but we just ran out of food last night, we probably won’t have any for at least another two days.” She was extremely grateful when I told her I had food on the way, and was looking to change that situation.

Actually going there and seeing shelves upon shelves in a store room that were all empty, with only my measly 17 cans in the entire place, really made me think about how hard off my own neighborhood is. Now I’m planning on grabbing a few cans every time I go grocery shopping, to help make sure those shelves don’t go empty again. I’ll admit, I was initially doing this for the points, but now it’s really made an impact on my life (and hopefully others).

withoutlove project: Day 23.2

20 Items/1 Bag

Hey, I am new here and just wanted to say how great of an idea this is! You people rock, seriously.

This is the stuff: I know it’s from my Kitchen but were doing massive renovations and found a lot of food that we cannot use since we won’t have a kitchen for the next couple months.. I hope that is alright

The count is 20 in 1 bag:
15 cans of goods
2 boxes of Jello pudding
2 boxes of noodles and cheese
1 box of lasagna pasta

Please don’t count the juice boxes, they were just in my old kitchen and no one was going to drink them so I thought why not give them away.  I want to quickly thank to the people who put this on, it is a truly an amazing idea. Lots of love

withoutlove project: Day 23.1

16 Items/1 Bag

withoutlove project: Day 22.8

3 Bags/24 Items

24 items in total, 3 bags.
Great work, everyone!

withoutlove project: Day 22.7

2 Bags/30 Items

Seems like the giving bug has bit me. Greenwich House in particular gave me a good feeling, I like the fact that they help people in recovery, even when I was there little kids were running around.  So I hit the grocery.  Last time she said that they especially appreciate pasta, rice and soup so that is mostly what I got.  Again Greenwich House is on 7th St. and Cooper Sq. in Manhattan.  One has to call ahead to donate though because there is anonymity involved for the people who go there.

Again, thanks for making this happen and giving so many people an incentive, alot of people and kids will get to go to sleep without hunger in the bellies and that is awesome.  Again, if you feel like doing more about this check out the local http://www.foodnotbombs.net/ in your area.

withoutlove project: Day 22.6

1 Box/37 Items

Great cause! Keep up the good  work. Everyone’s a winner at this game.

Well done and bravo everyone!

withoutlove project: Day 22.5

5 Bags/47 Items

withoutlove project: Day 22.4

1 Bag/27 Items

withoutlove project: Day 22.3

2 Bags/28 Items

Have 28 items total in 2 bags. Sorry for the poor quality, this was impromptu and pics were taken with my phone.

withoutlove project: Day 22.2

withoutlove project: Day 21.7

4 Bags/61 Items

withoutlove project: Day 21.6

5 Bags/48 Items

First off, this is such a wonderful idea to take an online community and help the real world community (both of which we are all members).  Every minute of this was so rewarding.

The first task was to find a food bank of good reputation.  A quick Google search brought up: http://www.unityhouseny.org/how_to_help.htm

They are only 2 blocks from my apartment!  I then talked to a local fraternity which shops at Sam’s Club and was able to join them on a run to the store in order to buy bulk Progresso and Campbell’s soup with no tax.  A friend of mine who heard what I was doing and wanted to help went to Price Chopper and bought even more food to help out.

Together, we loaded up the car with cans of food and started to drive it down the hill to the food bank.  On the way, we stopped and picked up 5 paper bags from Stop & Shop for 5 cents each (27 cents total after tax).  That is the first time I have paid to get paper grocery bags.  We then drove to Unity House, my food bank of choice, and parked in a lot across the street.  There, we pulled out all the cans and laid them down on the lot.

My friend had intelligently taped his hearts on already, whereas I had printed out some simple hearts and was planning to tape them on in the lot as I laid them out.   However, I forgot the tape… so I tucked them in to the tabs on the cans

We took the bags into the front lobby of Unity House (carrying paper bags full of cans is quite tricky).

Yay for Withoutlove, and everyone who helped in the food drive!  Also, a big thank you to Michelle for helping make this all possible and encouraging people to participate.

withoutlove project: Day 21.5

2 Bags/16 Items

I decided to make another donation to help my local community.  I donated a total of 16 items (8 per bag) to my local Salvation Army Community Services Centre (they also have a “soup kitchen” in this building).

Here are my items and bags at home so that you can see what I put in the bags (I’m recycling old paper bags which is why the green “R” is on one of them—it has no meaning with respect to the donation):

withoutlove project: Day 21.4

3 Bags/24 Items

Hello from the London - had a bit of trouble finding *any* foodbanks in London, but after calling the Salvation Army, I found out  their homeless shelters accept food donations - so I ended up going here -
David Barker House in Southwark: http://www1.salvationarmy.org.uk/uki/www_uki.nsf/vw-sublinks/D2284C71FA9AEB2380256FC60046AC18?openDocument

come on guys! give what you can - and remember: charity is the gift you give yourself!

withoutlove project: Day 21.3

4 Bags/36 Items

I went to the Salvation Army Donation Center and donated 36 items.
I had 4 bags each with 9 items……. two bags with 9 cans, one bag with 2 cans and 7 bags of ramen noodles, and last bag had 8 ramen noodles and 1 cup noodle.

Thanks for hosting this event. It is really for a great cause and I also got a warm fuzzy feeling

4 Bags/34 Items

Here are the goods, 34 items (minus My Little Pony)

Here is the outside of Boston’s lovely food bank

Here is Food Bank employee Wayne, who is clearly thrilled about my contribution. This is four bags, but it’s only packed that way to avoid breaking the bag. Wayne said they will probably condense it to 1 or 2 bags. This is a wonderful program, and it made me very happy to contribute!

5 Bags/65 Items

Wow,
This initially presented alot of challenges because I had to go visit my parents on sunday, which is also my only day off till the 15th.  Since no banks were close or open, I had to figure out a way to get the food on the train, I went with a suitcase and ended up wishing i’d brought less cans.
Once I got into the city I had to find a bank that was open on Sundays.  Luckily, I found Church of The  Epiphany on 2nd Ave.  Funny since all my items were Kosher.  They were nice, and made the whole process quite easy.  Below are my bags (on which you will notice the hearts, with the number on them and a shot of all the items emptied out in the church pantry. (ALL pics now at the bottom)
Okay, I managed to get a lil more food and was told about a place on 7th street and Cooper Square (this is all in NYC btw) called Greenwich House that does a food pantry and helps the homeless and pacticularly people in recovery with food and clothes etc.  This is one bag with more lightweight items (mostly rice pasta and instant soup)  18 items donated this time around (I stopped on the corner of St. Marks and asked a guy if he knew where Greenwich House was and he asked me why I was looking for it.  When i told him he started to peruse and ask if he could have the pasta.
Anyway, below are two pictures of the outisde, one with the bag, and a picture of my bag in their pantry.   You guys really rule for doing this, it’s important now more than ever.  Below are the pics (the bag is cut off but you’ll see it if you click.

Total Bags=5
Total Items=65

Btw: anyone who really enjoyed this and is interested in doing more like it should check this out

Thanks again, I can’t describe how much more I love this site now

What if we really understood love?
Real Love. Unconditional love.
What would that look like?
What would that feel like?
Would it change who we were?
Would it change the way we saw ourselves?
Would it change the way we saw others?
How we treated others?
What would it be like to truly love?
What would it be like to be truly loved?
